New Delhi, June 18: Beno Zephine, the first visually-impaired Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, was felicitated by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday.
The 25-year old from Chennai cracked the UPSC exam in her second attempt, securing a 343rd all-India rank in 2013. She was a probationary worker at State Bank of India, and now is the first 100 percent blind IFS officer of this country.
Jitendra Singh, Minister of State of the Department of Personnel and Training, said that Zephine was keen to be a part of IFS. Although, there were constraints, she overcame all hurdles with the co-operation of the concerned department.
